This post on Lang’ata Women’s Prison bookdrive is more of a TBT, so it will go up on a Thursday. Promoting the reading culture in Kenya is our mission as the Bellapace books team. We achieve our mission through selling books and writing book reviews. What happens to those who cannot afford to buy books? Bellapace books have you covered!
Bellapacebooks Corporate Social Responsibility is one thing that is at the top of our list as an organization. A while back we decided to have a book drive at Lang’ata Womens Prison . We reached out for potential partners and we were humbled to have https://vivoactivewear.com/on board.

“I don’t think you ever stop giving. I really don’t. I think it’s an on-going process. And it’s not just about being able to write a check. It’s being able to touch somebody’s life.”
Oprah Winfrey
Wandia Gichuru the CEO of Vivo Active Wear and her team requested the public to drop books donation in their stores. Kenyan readers came out in large numbers and we were able to collect around 400 books and 500 magazines.

Bellapace books contributed 200 books to top up on the contribution from the public. A team from both organization and they were very excited. The books comprised of fiction books, cookbooks, biographies and business-related books. A greater number were technical books that will equip the women with skills that they can apply while in prison as well as when they leave the institution.
Through the book drive, we believe that we gave them a place to go when they have to stay where they are.
